For children from 0 to 5 years of age, The British School of Costa Daurada follows the Early Years and Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum. This is a play based methodology with a focus on sensory experiences and the development of independence. It is in this stage in which most new students join our school.
This is the ideal time for students to join our community as throughout the Foundation Levels students are incorporated into our Linguistic Programme.
The classes groups of this stage are as follows:
Communication and Language Development
Physical Development
Personal, Social and Emotional Development
Language and Literature
Maths
Knowledge and Understanding of the World
Artistic Expression and Design
Music
German
Psychomotricity
Robotics
As in the rest of the school, the classrooms in Early Years consist of both an indoor and outdoor area. They are specially designed to favour creative and imaginative learning, with a focus on learning through play. This promotes the development of critical thinking skills, inquisitive learning and problem solving.
The teaching team at The British School of Costa Daurada undertake the role of mentors and educational guides for the children, encouraging the pupils to ask questions, explore and partake in new experiences.
Early Years Foundation Stage is led by the Stage Coordinator, who supervises and ensures that the pedagogical objectives of each stage are being met.
