Hygiene and protection measures for Covid-19

Hygiene and protection measures for Covid-19 at The British School of Costa Dorada

The priority of The British School of Costa Daurada is to ensure the health of all people who are part of the educational project.

Our commitment to the well-being and health of students and the teaching staff has led us to follow the recommendations and regulations set by the Department of Education of the Generalitat de Catalunya and to take strict measures so that the school can reopen the classrooms ensuring the safety of all people.

General access for families and children of the school

1. Families will not have access to the school grounds. They will accompany their sons and daughters to the school door where they will be received by the teaching staff.

2. Families must respect the recommended safety distance of 1.5-2 meters while waiting for the children to leave.

3. Access to the school will be in stages. Please scrupulously respect the check-in and check-out times proposed by your child's class group.

4. The teaching staff will receive the students and will take a body temperature test. If the temperature is higher than 37, the child will not be allowed access to the school grounds.

5. Families, children and accompanying persons may not socialize at the entrance or in the vicinity of the school. We ask that the area be kept free and that entries and collections be made as short as possible.

6. Families and accompanying persons are primarily responsible for monitoring and implementing the protection measures adopted, as well as ensuring that children come to school in good health.

Specific requirements for children to access school

2. Not living or having been in close contact with a confirmed positive person or who has compatible symptoms in the previous 14 days

3. Have the vaccination schedule up to date

4. The teaching staff will receive the students and will take a body temperature test. If the temperature is higher than 37, the child will not be allowed access to the school grounds.

5. When children enter the school grounds, they will wash their hands with the school's hydro alcoholic gel.

6. The use of masks is mandatory for the entire educational community (teachers, students and non-teaching staff) except for students from 0 to 6 years, which will be used as indicated by current regulations.

Measures in the classroom and in the different spaces of the centre

Safety distance

Keep students at appropriate safety distances, between 1.5 and 2 meters.

Hand washing. When should it be performed?

1. On arrival at the centre, before contact with children.

2. Before and after coming into contact with food.

3. Before and after accompanying a child to the toilet.

4. Before and after going to the toilet.

5. Before and after wiping a child (with disposable handkerchiefs).

6. At least once every 2 hours.

It is necessary to make sure that both the students and the staff of the centre wash their hands following the correct procedure.

Ventilation of spaces

The indoor facilities must be ventilated at least before the children enter and leave.

The spaces will be ventilated 3 times a day, at least 10 minutes at a time.

We leave the doors open to ensure constant ventilation.

We will treat the air conditioners with a bactericidal and fungicidal treatment approved by the Ministry of Health.

School entrances and exits

The school has created 7 points of entry and exit of the school in order to facilitate that the accesses of the students to the centre can be realized of staggered form and differentiated by bubble groups.

Access to the school will be in stages. Please scrupulously respect the check-in and check-out times proposed by your child's class group.

Cleaning and disinfection

A specific disinfectant product is available in each classroom. It will be used in those spaces that are considered most necessary.

It will be used responsibly. Together, safe and comfortable classrooms will be maintained.

Resources and materials will be cleaned after use.

In EYFS classrooms, toilets will be disinfected and cleaned after each use.

Use of masks

The use of masks is mandatory for the entire educational community (teachers, students and non-teaching staff) except for students from 0 to 6 years, which will be used as indicated by current regulations.

The school will provide each day at the entrance of the students, a new mask certified to each student for use in school.

Symptomatology COVID19

Daily symptom checking is recommended on school staff.

In order to guarantee prompt action in the event of a suspicious case, good communication and coordination with the primary care centre of reference for the educational centre is considered essential.

Own Medical Service

The school has its own medical service that allows us to support our educational community with respect to any symptoms that may arise during our day to day.

Our medical service is available during all school opening hours.

Our medical service carries out constant and continuous communication with the COVID manager of the reference primary care centre, in agreement with the school principal, who is the head of the centre’s COVID.
